Pools tips and recommended bets for weekend of May 10-11

Ten draws: Southampton v Manchester United, Sunderland v Swansea, Torino v Parma, Verona v Udinese, Hannover v Freiburg, Wolfsburg v Borussia Monchengladbach, Bordeaux v Marseille, Guingamp v Toulouse, Lille v Paris St Germain, Nantes v St Etienne.

Best draws: Southampton v Manchester United, Sunderland v Swansea, Verona v Udinese, Bordeaux v Marseille, Lille v Paris St Germain.

Best weekend away bets: Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Stoke, Leyton Orient, Napoli.

Best weekend home bets: Liverpool, Manchester City, York, Hibernian, Getafe, Levante, Villarreal, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke 04, Augsberg.

Pick of the draws: Manchester United would be higher in the Premier League if their home form had matched their away successes. Nobody in the division has won more games on the road than United. That should serve them well in their final league fixture of 2013-14 at Southampton on Sunday. Southampton have enjoyed a good season but have been only average at home. Sunderland's astonishing recovery from the depths of despair has been one of the stories of the season and I believe they will end on a positive note by sharing the spoils with Swansea. In the Italian League, Udinese went on a scoring spree against Livorno last weekend. That should strengthen their chances against Verona, who lie four places above them. In the French League, Bordeaux and Marseille look well matched while third-placed Lille can deny table-topping Paris St Germain victory.

Away days: Chelsea will be determined to finish a miserable week in winning vein and it will be a major surprise if they don't come away from relegated Cardiff with maximum points. Crystal Palace showed their battling qualities by forcing a draw after being three goals behind against Liverpool at Selhurst Park last Monday. They have not switched off, even though there is little except pride to play for, and I expect them to prevail at Fulham, who, like Cardiff, have dropped out of the Premier League. Hull will have more than one eye on the following week's FA Cup final when they host Everton on Sunday. This provides Everton with a perfect opportunity to gain three points and feel a bit better after missing out on Champions League qualification. Stoke are sure of a place in the top half of the table and I fancy them to finish the season in style at West Bromwich Albion, who have won only four matches at the Hawthorns. Leyton Orient visit Peterborough in the semi-final first leg of the League One play-offs on Saturday. With 12 away victories to their credit this season, I'm backing them to add another and obtain a crucial advantage before the return match. Italian Cup winners Napoli should have too many answers for Sampdoria.

Homes sweet homes: York are the form side going into the League Two play-offs and seem likely to gain a first-leg lead over Fleetwood, who have faltered recently. Whoever wins the Hibernian-Kilmarnock game on Saturday will avoid the possibility of relegation from the Scottish Premiership. Purely because of home advantage, my money is on Hibs. In the Spanish League, lowly Getafe managed to draw at Barcelona last weekend. That result could spur them to victory against Sevilla, who may have the Europa League final on their minds. Levante defeated leaders Atletico Madrid last weekend, so they have no reason to fear Valencia, who will probably have a hangover from their agonising defeat in the Europa League semi-final.

Pools info: Roma v Juventus (match No 26 on coupon) has been brought forward to Friday and is therefore void.
